The outlook for good health has never looked bleaker. Our health care system, subjected to funding cuts and brain drain in recent years, now fails us too often. With the unfortunate developments surrounding the war on terrorism, the unknown challenge of bio-warfare looms closer then ever. With the onset of winter and its related seasonal disorders, a sense of darkness has descended upon our world, both literally and figuratively. We feel helpless. Can we do something to improve the mood globally; can we enlighten anyone?

I believe that it is possible to heal this wounded world of ours by healing each one of us at a time. Even if one person becomes more positive, more at peace, the energies in the universe shift to a more positive weighting. By adding up these tiny transformations, we increase the total measure of love in the world. One healing modality, which has gained tremendous popularity in recent years, has the power to do just that, to enlighten us from the inside. The power of light is that it colours our world and no other commodity in the universe comes with a built-in rainbow.

Colour is everywhere, visible and invisible. Colour qualifies edible fruits and vegetables; protects and attracts wild life and insects. Colours can cheer and depress, stimulate and tranquilize, provoke and antagonize. Colour helps us diagnose physical and emotional illnesses, and treat them, too. Colour is light.

Ancient religions and philosophies, as well as the modern science, agree that light is one of the fundamental elements of our universe. Yet, it doesn’t just passively exist out there, as a background for the grand scheme of things. Light is interactive. It affects minerals, plants and animals; it determines how they look and helps them get nourishment in a complex food chain. The light beams carry not only heat, but little packets of information as well, which we have just started to understand and use in recent decades.

The messages conveyed in light represent the purest, most simple, fundamental language in the universe. They are frequencies - a visual symphony from above. When we learn to fine-tune ourselves to these pure and divine messages, we become privy to the most effective healing modality possible--colour light therapy.

The practice of colour light therapy, based on ancient beliefs and methods, has been widely recognized and has been very popular in Europe during the past 30 years.

In North America, people are only now becoming aware that positive results can be achieved with color light applications. But all along, the scientific community has been studying the nature of light and has proven that light is an essential ingredient of the metabolic processes in all organisms.

The field of colour light therapy has exploded in the recent years. The Internet alone currently hosts thousands of pages of information on the topic. With its simple and effective tools and techniques, colour light therapy is ideal for aestheticians, reflexologists, aromatherapists, make-up artists, health care professionals, and color light enthusiasts--anyone in search of a simple, safe, economical, noninvasive and convenient healing modality. It represents a revolution in the way our society understands health.

Using self-healing, and being a completely noninvasive procedure, colour light therapy can be applied in your comfortable local health care or spa facility, or even at a beauty salon. You can also apply the technique while traveling, commuting, waiting in a doctor’s office or relaxing at home, without even having to disrobe.

Thanks to its versatility, colour light therapy allows people to benefit on many levels: from simple relaxation to rejuvenation, relief of acute pain, and treatment of chronic ailments, to entire emotional and spiritual makeovers.

When we use color light therapy, we are working on many different layers, or aspects, of body, mind and spirit.

Most ancient writings allude to the ‘as above, so below’ concept, asserting that we are a holographic reflection of our universe. You may have heard this idea in its Western iterations: "what you sow, you shall reap," or, "what goes around, comes around."

As soon as you conjure up a thought - any thought - you've created an image somewhere "out there" and, eventually, it will filter down into your physical reality. That is Karma. Karma is an imprint of our own actions and thoughts, being played out in time.

The newest hypotheses in the field of quantum physics declare that all energy in the universe constantly vibrates. My belief is that every vibration is picked up, every thought, word, action or feeling gets recorded in cellular memory, on an electromagnetic current of energy similar to radio waves.

Unresolved traumas and issues - environmental, emotional, or physical - in my opinion don’t disappear. They remain as energetic imprints on a cellular level. Even the finest of these imbalances can influence our endocrine system, our body’s chemical factory and our natural regulatory device.

Our natural light energy source - the sun - emits all visible and invisible colors, each with their individual frequency and characteristics. They participate in an interplay of forces in our system. They are absorbed, assimilated and transmitted from cell to cell and radiated back to the universal life force. All minerals, plants and organic life absorb and reflect specific colour frequencies from this natural light system.

These lights are used within the DNA of each living cell and amplified and broadcast as a way to communicate with other cells, through photons in light waves. This process is called bio-communications.

As early as 1922, Russian biologist A. G. Gurwitsch proved that plant cells can communicate between themselves through a barrier of quartz glass. In the early 1970-ties, a team of Russian scientists established that light is the carrier of biological information. This type of research is now spearheaded by the renowned biophysicist Dr. Fitz-Albert Popp at the International Institute of Biophysics in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

In the late 1970-ties, Peter Mandel, a naturopathic practitioner from Germany, matched thousands of snapshots of his patients, made with a high-frequency electro-photography camera (Kirlian camera), with their medical records and symptoms. He determined that the apparatus captured subtle differences in electric charges of the skin, caused by pathological processes. Mandel’s further research, in the early 1980-ties, established the entire diagnostic topography of hands and feet, as captured on Kirlian photographs.

In late 1980-ties, Professor Kaznacheyev’s team of Russian researchers proved that our bodies have channels of light which parallel the meridians of the traditional Chinese medicine and that points which absorb the light match the acupuncture points exactly. North-American pioneers of the early twentieth century, Edwin Babbitt & Dinshah Ghadiali, successfully shone light on large sections of the body through coloured filters, for therapeutic purposes.

It is Peter Mandel’s groundbreaking discovery in Europe, in the late 1980-ties, that ignited the modern worldwide success of colour therapy. The net result of Mandel’s work is his well-documented hypothesis that groups of cells create electromagnetic fields which mirror the status of the organs. These electromagnetic fields store information and guide how the body grows and develops. The information in these fields, Mandel concluded, can be changed with applications of colored light therapy. That way, colours can restructure the body’s energies. When he irradiated specific acupuncture points with focused light beams of colour, the pain was alleviated within minutes, regardless of the underlying condition.

This is the essence of colour light therapy. Using a simple color-ray illuminator, such as LumaLight 2000™, to generate coloured light beams, we introduce each colour’s unique frequency into the skin. As the organism absorbs the coloured light, it replenishes the body’s natural energy and restores the balance in cells.

A trained colour enthusiast focuses the illuminator’s beams on specific areas and points on the body. These locations match the traditional acupuncture points, as well as other established energy portals. These portals are found along the etheric electromagnetic grid network that extends off the physical body. The main energy portals, also known as the seven chakras, aligned on the front and back of the body, directly connect to the endocrine system and internal organs.

Our individual organs, such as a liver or a pair of kidneys, do not live independent lives; they coexist. Every bone, organ and individual cell is part of a system. There is a constant flow of energies. As it’s most often not possible to correct problems separately, the goal is to reestablish the color balance in the whole body.

This is a crucial point for all possible physical conditions--their seeds can be ‘erased’ in our etheric body (aura) before they can find their way into the physical body. With color light therapy, we learn how to balance out these energetic disturbances.

Grounding in science is one of the greatest strengths of color light therapy. As present-day science pushes the frontiers of our knowledge, it provides more and more explanations for the astonishing effectiveness of colour. Modern medicine, quantum physics and microbiology, among other disciplines, compete in providing new explanations for ancient beliefs related to colour light therapy. Two of the greatest contributions by individuals are J.W. Goethe’s theory of colour, with its famous colour wheel, which to this day influences arts, psychology, design, architecture & fashion, and Dr. Valerie Hunt’s systematic measurements and analysis of the human aura done according to the most stringent scientific methods.

The tools and techniques of colour light therapy are widely available in Canada through manufacturers, distributors and educators, with all three functions often being served by one company.

By practicing colour light therapy, our sensitivity to perceive energetic configurations in energy fields increases with time. Through a refined sensitivity and an expanded sense of awareness is it possible to support someone else as well in their own light discovery.
